Something New Under the Sun

Wizards Are Not Welcome Here!

A New Story Coming Soon from Joules Young

By Sophia Salazar, Editor-in-Chief

The longest day of the year is almost here. The sun will hang in the sky like it's in no hurry to leave. Children will stay up past their bedtime, chasing fireflies and the last light. Something about the solstice makes us want to linger —to stretch the hours, to hold onto the day a little longer.

It seems only fitting, then, that we chose this moment to share something new.

Something that invites you to linger.

This June, as the sun lingers and the light stretches long into the evening, we are absolutely delighted to offer a taste of something wonderful on the horizon. A brand new story from the marvellously inventive Joules Young is coming soon:

Wizards Are Not Welcome Here.

A tale of chaos, courage, and a glitter dragon who learns that the greatest treasure isn't gold—it's the people who help you find your way home.

What It's About

In the village of Nibble-on-the-Moor, where the air always smells faintly of buttered scones and the sheep are known to make passive-aggressive comments about the weather, there is one unspoken rule. Well, actually, it was very much spoken—on signs, on banners, and even on the occasional knitted jumper.

It reads:

"Wizards Are Not Welcome Here."

The villagers—creatures with wings, claws, and at least one resident made entirely of moss—live a blissful, wizard-free existence. That is, until one particularly drizzly Thursday, when a figure in a floppy hat and an even floppier attitude wanders into Crispin Puff's bakery and asks for a baguette.

And that, dear reader, is where our story begins.

Because while everyone in the village knew that wizards weren't welcome, apparently, not all wizards got the memo.

What Happens Next

A portal opens above the town square. A glitter dragon named Percival Luminos the Third emerges, having misplaced his treasure hoard. A bog beast demands a song about mud. A baker armed with a baguette becomes an unlikely hero.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, a wizard learns that chaos is not the enemy—it's just the beginning of something wonderful.

Wizards Are Not Welcome Here is a story about rules that are made to be broken, friends who appear when you least expect them, and the realisation that the greatest treasure of all is the one you carry in your heart.

The Soundtrack — Now Streaming on The Wonderful World of Hock

Before the story arrives, you can already hear its heart.

We are overjoyed to share the official soundtrack for Wizards Are Not Welcome Here, now available exclusively on our YouTube channel, The Wonderful World of Hock.

The centrepiece of the soundtrack is a song sung by Percival Luminos the Third himself.

It is a song about his travels. About the teacup he carries with him wherever he goes—the only possession that truly matters. And about the discovery that a dragon's true treasure is not gold or jewels, but the people who walk beside you, the memories you make, and the friends who become your hoard.

What to Expect When the Story Arrives

When Wizards Are Not Welcome Here arrives—and it will be soon—you will meet:

  • Ollie Twiggle — A wizard who is probably not as useless as he looks (probably)
  • Crispin Puff — A dragon who gave up fire-breathing for flour-dusted baking
  • Percival Luminos the Third — A glitter dragon with a teacup and a heart of gold
  • Griselda Shimmersnout — A badger with a rolling pin and no patience for nonsense
  • Beatrix Hootle — An owl who documents everything (and is quietly enjoying the chaos)
  • Ethel — A small but determined sheep who invited herself along

And many more.

A Word from Studio Hock

"We built this universe because we believe in the power of a tale that makes you laugh, makes you wonder, and reminds you that the best things in life are the ones you can't put a price on.

Percival Luminos the Third sings about his teacup. He sings about his travels. He sings about the discovery that a dragon's true treasure is not gold, but the people who help you find your way home.

This soundtrack is our gift to you. A taste of the story before it arrives. A song to carry with you until the full tale unfolds."

A Final Thought

There is a moment in Percival's song when he holds up his teacup—the one that belonged to his great-grandmother, the legendary dragon Rosalind Sparklewing—and he realises that it isn't the teacup that matters.

It's what it represents.

It's the memory of her. The love she gave him. The lessons she taught him. The home he carries with him wherever he goes.

That is the heart of Wizards Are Not Welcome Here. A story about a wizard who learns that chaos is not the enemy. A dragon who discovers that treasure is not gold. A village that realises that the best things in life are the ones you can't put a price on.

Listen to the soundtrack. Feel the magic. And prepare to step into Nibble-on-the-Moor.

Something wonderful is coming.
